The Alcalde


Photos and miscellanea from the Alcalde. Founded in 1913, the Alcalde (pronounced “all-call-day”) is the alumni magazine of The University of Texas at Austin. It is published six times a year and mailed to the 100,000 members of the Texas Exes.
In 1964, a few UT English majors decided to throw a birthday party for Eeyore the downtrodden donkey. The bohemian event became a staple of Austin culture, and on Saturday, thousands will go to the 51st-annual Eeyore’s Birthday in Pease Park.Here’s a snapshot from the very first party.
